What’s your New Year resolution?

It’s that time of year again and time to bring out your notepad and make your list of New Year resolutions. It’s time to reflect on the changes you want to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.

Family time
Make a vow to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year, make plans to meet up with friends for an evening of doing nothing at a favourite restaurant or go out for a while for some ‘me’ time. Studies shouldn’t always come first!

Get fit
It’s time to get fit and evidence proves that regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else. It reduces the risk of some cancers, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood and lowers blood pressure. So it’s time to start getting in shape.

Enjoy life
Given the hectic and stressful life that students have nowadays, it is no wonder that ‘enjoying life more’ has become a popular resolution in recent years. It is a vital step to a happier and healthier you! Look for things or hobbies to balance your body, mind and soul. Or just get out and try something new! Take up a new art or try your hand at learning a new sport. Go for music concerts, plays or just head for a good work out.

Try something new
Make a vow to learn something new this year. Learn a new language or just how to fix your computer. Whether you take a course or read a book, you’ll find education to be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year’s resolutions to keep.

Volunteer
Time to give back to the society, even if it’s in a small way. Spend time helping out someone, mentoring a child or volunteer at an animal shelter or any other organization that could really use your help. If you are running short of time, maybe you can at least donate furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need.

Get organized
Get your room organized or help your parents clean up and organize your home. Get a more organized life, reduce the clutter in your life and find peace in your home.

Eat healthy
Try and eat at least one healthy meal a day, and make it a part of your everyday routine and explore new eateries.

Travel more
Make it a point to visit at least one more new place this year. Book a new travel experience and broaden your horizons. Seeing new sights doesn’t mean you have to travel far or spend loads of money in the process. Head to tourist attractions, museums and more to make for a fun time.

So, while you work to achieve all your goals for this year, don’t forget to unwind and have some fun, too! Happy New Year!
