A Gala Women Affair

Annapurna International School for Film and Media (AISFM) laid the foundation for “#SHEINSPIRES, an award instituted to recognise a woman who beat challenges in her life to create a space for herself across different spectrums of life. Among the 28 nominations received, 5 were the chosen winners – Ms. Seetha Murthy – a teacher, Ms. Manjula Krishnan– Good will stores, Ms. Shivi Kapil – centric design researcher, Ms. Padma Jayaraman, Ms. Usha. H.K a motivating and principled teacher and a special mention was awarded to Ms.Subbayamma – a lady who graduated at the age of 60 years.
The ‘#SHEINSPIRES’ award is the culmination of an idea to find and recognise those unsung women who inspire us daily through their life, challenges and victory. The celebration of a woman and her endeavors organised by AISFM began with an introduction to the concept of  ‘SHEINSPIRES’ by Prof. Kavita Daryani, Vice Chancellor of JNAFAU followed by a keynote speech by Ms. Amala Akkineni, Director AISFM, celebrated actor, philanthropist and educationist on the topic ‘Discover Your Hidden Potential’. The event also featured a panel discussion by illustrious women from different walks of life about career opportunities for women in the digital era. In her key note address ‘Discover Your Hidden Potential’, Amala Akkineni highlighted on the topic – ‘The ‘Digital Era is an exciting phase for woman – to elevate her potential and nurture new career possibilities’.

What followed was a thought-provoking panel discussion on ‘Career Opportunities for women in the Digital Era’ by Geeta Goti, Independent director, NSIC Ltd., Aruna Ravikumar, Sr. Journalist, Print and Broadcast, Rohini Mukherjee, Naandi Foundation and Supriya Yarlagadda, Executive Director of Annapurna Studios.

Quoting some new exciting career opportunities available for women, the panelists highlighted new opportunities for women in the digital era and how to tap the immense potential it offers today. They underlined industry ready degrees from widely acknowledged educational institutions like AISFM and JNAFAU in Graphic and Multimedia design, Photography and Digital Imaging, and Animation and VFX. These courses not only offer industry ready employability, but also give them flexibility to work at home.

The celebration culminated into the award giving ceremony by Amala Akkineni congratulating the winners. She also added that the award reinforced the message that every woman deserves a chance to succeed in what she dreams beyond the walls of her home.

The list of other nominees includes Suzy Burla, Varsha Rani, Rajita Chaudhuri, Tejaswini Pagadala, Sreedevi Devireddy, Bhawana Somaaya, Shruti Kayal, Silpa Lingareddy, Madhuparna Kumar, Naaz Faheem, Surekha Isarel, Soumya Bollapragada, Deepthi Reddy Madugula, Ujwala Raman, Sana, Rubina Parveen, Sucheta Pal, Shilpa Chakravarthy, Dr. Manjula Anagani, Pooja Sutrave, Venkatratnam.

The event ended on a fun filled note with the panelists, winners, nominees, students and staff posing for photos and the photo booth and by giving video bytes.
